(poem) Don't Give In


Don't give up, stay strong through it all
You may rise and you may fall
Through life's hardships, you must stand strong
Until you end where you belong
And though the world is full of sin
Don't you dare, don't you dare give in

Through every struggle, you must fight
You can make it through the night
You will wake to morning's glow
Then your tears will start to slow
You may lose, and you may win
But whatever happens, don't give in

All you need to have is faith
With it comes abundant strength
Know that you will soon get by
You'll no longer feel a need to cry
Try to put on a brilliant grin
And tell the world that you won't give in

When you feel you've lost at life
The pain is cutting like a knife
Don't forget that love cancels out hate
It will never be too late
You'll realize soon that you will win
Because you are the one who would not give in.

(content/blog writing sample) East Tawas, Michigan

I had the pleasure of taking an excursion to the city of East Tawas, located in the northeastern region in the lower peninsula of Michigan. The city has a bustling downtown area that has multiple local businesses that help contribute to the tourist economy that the city thrives off of. I found joy in visiting a local chocolatier that had many unique takes on traditional chocolate treats. I visited some of the other local shops that sold products made by artisans throughout Michigan. There was everything from the traditional "Lake Life" t-shirts to specialty cherry wines made in Michigan. I was also captivated by a beautiful mural that was painted on the bricks of one of the stores: a fun scene that takes place in the serenity of Lake Huron, a carefree woman parasails through the waves while other colorful parasails float on in the background. A life for a life  They change mine  And I'll change theirs  They'll make me some kind of hero  Their strength will make me stronger  My plan is bigger than social work  The real plan is change  Change for the child with the bruised face  Change for the child with real monsters at night  Change for the child with the gaunt face  Change for the children that need an escape  I dream of the day I won't have to save the poor children in need I dream of children in safe homes  With food, shelter, a chance and love  The "social worker" label I'll wear with pride I'll fight my way through school  So I can meet the children, have them change my life  So I can change theirs too *2014- Bailey C.
